I'd like them to be hidden so I'm looking for a nice piece of furniture where you can pull out shelves or open a door to see them. Any ideas on what furniture store or online website has something like this?

I am moving to Minneapolis from Canada on my own, and I will be furnishing my apartment from scratch. Because I'm alone, I need to find a furniture store that delivers to the door (not curbside), and that is relatively cheap. I feel more confident ordering from well-known stores such as JC Penney. Any recommendations?

I need to buy new furniture but am really put off going to furniture stores because of salesmen tactics. First steps through the door and I feel eyes on me and a group of suited vultures waiting on their prey.Then two more steps , and the pounce, "seen anything you fancy", "looking for something in particular", . Then they follow you around the store , looking at what your looking at.
Ive done my research on the net and just want to sit in the things to see if its comfy and for me, but I couldnt feel comfy on anything with anyone watching and waiting for a reaction
All I want is to be left alone, I know salesmen take courses to gauge customer reactions and profiling etc but Im really put off
My question is does anyone know any good avoidence tactict to counter their approaches . The usual " Im just looking thank you " doesnt seem to work

I know, it's terrible when you decide it;s time to pony up with the dough for some new furniture, drive over to the showroom to see what's available, and you step into the store with an attitude of anticipation and excitement only to find the experience more like swimming in the the shark tank than a leisurely shopping experience.

But try not to take it personally, yes it is rude, and you or I would never run our furniture store like that, "if we had one", remember, these guys are being watched. If they don't perform, there gone.

I actually do have a furniture store, and that kind of aggressiveness is not allowed, but that is how it is at most other places I know of.

Here is what you do...

First, Check your attitude, your power comes from being a happy, smiling, confident consumer who wants to work with a helpful happy furniture professional.

Figure what store you want to shop around at, get an idea of what you're looking for before you go.

As you walk up to the door to go in, know this. With in a minute of hitting the showroom floor you will be approached. The guy is marking his territory, claiming you as "his" customer. This is his job and if he doesn't he's history there.

This is where you turn the table on him and set the relationship going forward.

As the sales person is approaching, as soon as you determine he's coming for you, look up and smile at him.

Take a step in his direction and extend your hand and say. Hi there, I'm insert your name, as you shake. he will give you his name and step right into his opener. "what can I sell you today?"

You say, " Hi Bob, good to know you're here to help, have you been working here long ?

He will tell you, then try again to get into his groove.

then you say, I had a little time on my hands so I stopped into " insert the name of his competitor's store", I just wanted to look around at the "sofas or what ever you are looking for", but every where I went, I felt like I was being stalked, it wasn't a good experience at all, so I left and came over to see you guys.

Today, I'm just out free-stylin to see what I like.

Can I get your Card Bob? He will give it to you,Now he doesn't have to worry because you will assure him that He is your man in this store, and If you need anything you will get with him.

Remember, it is your money, and he wants it. You have the power, you decide if you are going to leave your money with Bob, or somebody else.

You aren't interest in the one day only deal, or the free if you act now stuff. All that will be there after you have decided in your time what you want and what you can pay..
