Are there household products that are good? Do you lay them out on the lawn to dry?

I have always used baking soda, it cleans everything off, and for any tough stains on them, pour vinegar on them after the baking soda is on, dont have to use much force then. And yes, I would just stand them in an upright position outside in the sun to dry, the vinegar will also set any colors so they dont fade as easily...also cheap!

We just bought a patio set which includes thick chair cushions. They say they have been treated to be water repellant. Do we need to move them every time it rains? What else should I do to protect the padding? Thanks.

The padding is also designed to be fast drying, but if it is going to rain Friday night or Saturday morning and you know you're going to use it Saturday afternoon, it might not dry fast enough for you.

Being water repellent and fast drying are certainly a help, but they still tend to get a bit dirty out there. If I'm not going to be using them during the work week, I take them in and put them back on the weekend. If you notice after a few months that they are not as water repellent as they were, you can buy a spray can of the repellent to renew.

I recently bought patio furniture with outdoor safe cushions. But the cushions are already being pecked to pieces by the birds in my backyard! They have made several holes in the new cushions and it's clear that it's the stuffing they are after. Does anyone know how I can keep this from happening?

They aren't eating it, they are using it to build their nests. The only thing you can do is put them away until the nesting season is over. Once they have found that good stuff for their nests, they won't leave it alone!
