I have furniture made of acacia wood. It has a coating of wax. However, if anyone so much as brushes past it (slight exaggeration) it marks.
Is it possible to have it stripped back and varnished or something to make it more durable.
you just need to buy paint protector and re varnish it, put three coats on it and then it should be tough and will not get marked.

Yes the cost is justified. Teak ages really well, the colour deepens and as long as you maintain it with oil it should last 20/30 years

We need a new dining table and chairs for the garden. We can't afford teak but there appears to be a wide selection of products in either acacia wood or eucalyptus wood. Which of these two woods is the best choice and why? Of course if anyone knows a place to buy low cost teak furniture then please let us know. Thanks
I'm just a poor good ole boy, but if you can afford to buy any wood furniture for outside, especially a dining table and chairs, I'd say you could afford the teak.
i bought this furniture at IKEA, worried about ruining it if i do not take care to treat the wood, starting to fade from weather.
i would do a google search on acacia furniture care.. im sure there are sites that can tell you what you need.
I am moving into a new unfurnished flat with underfloor heating throughout. Therefore, I am having to buy some new furniture and have found something I really like from Furniture Village. It's real acacia wood which is untreated and needs looking after because it's real wood and hand crafted. And the care instructions say that it should be kept away from heat sources. I asked at the shop about how my underfloor heating could affect the wood and they said that it should be fine because my floor has carpet. But I want an unbiased opinion on whether I should get this furniture as it will be costing me over £2,000. The sales guy at the shop will obviously sway me to buy it cuz its making money at the end of the day. Thanks.
that is too much money to be taking that chance. plus the heat is coming from under floor& the furniture will be on floor. and plus the care shop said "IT SHOULD BE FINE". he never said it will be fine. but he just trying to make a sale. so of course he will say that. good luck
