Discounts on used garden equipment.?
Work gloves

Found a Garden Tractor Mower at Sears Warehouse Outlet, the unit is used, has not been cleaned up. They want to sell the unit at 30% off the orginal selling price. The problem I have is that the tag on this unit shows that the tractor has been reduced in price twice now, yet they want to go back to the orginal price when it was new, this one is used and shows it. There are other tractors with less horse power that are new, and have been reduced to almost the same price as the one I would like to purchase. Does anyone have advice, besides walk away ?
I don't know for certain how long they plan on keeping the 30% on this tractor and other tractors for sale. They are offering 30 to 50% discounts on all the items they have in the warehouse until June 8-2007.

i' say get the new one because with the old one you really don't know how the people that used it treated it and plus new means that it should hold up longer with out any problems mechanical wise plus the new one looks better right? and plus what do you plan on doing with the tractor that you would need that extra bit of horsepower?
so i say get the new one definitely especially since it is almost the same price

*hope this helps! *

would you use a garden / light agrculture equipment hire firm?
korina and her red roses

I am thinking of setting up a hire firm. Hiring everything from rakes and wheelbarrows, hedge trimmers, rotovators, mini diggers etc etc....
Is there a call for such a company?

You are up against stiff competition. There are loads of companies out there that have been in the business for years and know what kit people want to hire. I honestly can't see anyone wanting to hire rakes and wheelbarrows but the other gear yes but that just puts you up against the big boys who have the buying power to obtain the machinery much cheaper than you could and therefore hire it cheaper. I would seriously think long and hard about this before you throw any money at it but good luck if you do decide to have a go.

Garden Equipment Maintenance Contracts/Agreements?

I guess when I asked about anyone having a Sears Maintenance Contracts, thought their stock with Sears would drop. I didn't get any answers so, let's try again. Is it worth paying big bucks for a 2 or 3 year maintenance contract/agreement, and have you received the service/repairs when you wanted it ? I don't work for Sears or any other company that services Garden equipment, just looking for input from people who have bought and used these types of services. Thanks
?
I know there can't be that many do-it-yourself people out there. I won't make fun of your answers or mishaps, and don't want anyone else to, just need to get information. Have only one answer to my question in the last two days. Can't tell me with all the junk e-mails that I have read, there aren't good business type people out there to come up with what has taken place with them. Thanks

service contracts of any kind on any product are a bad idea. they are never worth the money charged for them.

what is the proper equipment to use for cutting down of scrubs in the garden?

What the heck are scrubs? do you mean trimming "shrubs"? depending on the size of the things you want to cut will determine what piece of equipment to use. If you want to just trim new growth or limbs up to 1/4 inch a good pairs of hand snips work well. For branches up to 1" or so you should use what are called "loppers". They are about 2 to2 1/2 feet in length and work really well. Don't buy cheap ones though, by a quality pair and they will serve you well and last a lifetime. For branches that are high you can buy a pole type lopper which allows you to reach up 10 feet or so. Branches and stocks over 1 and 1/2 " will require a chain saw, for small jobs you can get an electric one quite reasonable, for more heavy duty stuff you should get a gas operated one. Hope this helps you out.

  • How to Recycle and Reuse Water

Some homeowners build or purchase a graywater system to recycle and reuse water in the home. The graywater is then used to water the lawn or garden and to flush toilets. Others prefer to use simpler methods. It’s possible to recycle and reuse water in the home without installing a full system. Homeowners can also recycle and reuse collected rain water.

Recycling and reusing graywater in the home can be tedious without an actual system. The same is likely true for saving rainwater. If the homeowner is truly concerned about saving money and saving the environment the effort is well worth it. Here are some ways to recycle and reuse water in the home without installing a system.

Recycle and reuse water from the bathroom sink by keeping a basin in the sink to catch water from hand washing and tooth brushing. This water can be used directly for flushing the toilet. Simply dump the basin into the toilet tank after use. This graywater will not stay in the tank long enough to cause bacterial issues.
