What is the best hedge trimmer from your experience that I can use on my 12 foot Cedar bushes. One that will last more then one year and won't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks

I use the Black and Decker Hedgehog. It comes in 2 sizes. I've had mine for years and it still works great!. Be careful when using an extension cord on a trimmer as I have cut two good cords when I thought I was trimming the bushes!

This is just a heavy duty extension card that hooks up directly to the back of the trimmer. I got another extension card and the hedge trimmer does nothing. I opened the hedge trimmer to see if it has a fuse or anything that I can notice that needs to be replaced and I see nothing obvious. Can I fix this or do I need to trash trimmer?

Reset the GFCI outlet that the timmer is plugged into. When you cut the cord the outlet did it's job and saved your life.

I have a WeedEater Excalibur hedge trimmer. Model GHT 225. It is stripping the leaves off of the branches instead of cutting the branches on my hedge. Does anyone know what would be causing this problem? Or how to resolve it. I have recently replaced the blade, and the new blade is doing the same thing.

Assuming the blade is sharp the only thing is can think of is the blade not tightened down properly and allows the small branches to get in between resulting in stripping the leaves and not cutting the branches.

Just been given a new corded hedge trimmer and managed to accidentally cut the cord! It's brand new so don't want to throw it out unless I really have to and need to get the work done in the garden asap so don't really want to take it into a shop.

Can I get a join or a connector to fix the cord from a DIY shop? I'll try to get the other half to do the mending but he's not really talking to me right now that i've broken his new toy! Thought i'd get in everything he needs to help the storm settle down!

Sticking-out side goes on the trimmer; use a 3-pin version if the trimmer isn't double-insulated. B&Q or similar sell them too.

I have a Ryobi hedge trimmer powered by a 2-stroke engine. It is stalling on start - I prime it w/ the full choke and it turns over fine, but when I start it w/ partial choke, it runs normally for about 1-2 seconds, then stalls.

The first thing to do is clean your air filter with dish soap and hot water. Rinse it out with hot water and dry it by wrapping a clean dry rag around it and wringing it out. Put about a teaspoon of any type of clean motor oil (10w30,etc.) and make sure it's evenly coated.

If the gas in your tank is more than a few weeks old go ahead and mix up some fresh (trimmer should be 50:1 mix ratio) gas and 2-stroke oil.

It wouldn't hurt to go ahead and check your spark plug but I'm pretty sure that's not the problem.

If it still won't start after doing these three things then you will need to replace the gasket in your carburator. Make sure that before you take the 4 screws holding on the top plate of the carb. that you've cleaned all of the dirt and dust away from the entire area. You don't want it getting into your cylinder. They should sell the gasket/diaphram wherever they sell Ryobi trimmers and weedeaters.
